Sy Hussein's father was Sy Ishak and his mother was Tuan Mahani.  His paternal grandfather was Sy Ahmad; his maternal grandparents were Sy Omar  and Sh Endut (Tuan Endut).  He had four brothers and five sisters, named Sy Ahmad Jamalulail, Sy Idrus, Sy Hasni, Sy Yusof, Sh Salmah, Sh Zainab, Sh Rodhiah, Sh Hasmah and Sh Sepiah.
