Jan was born in 1731 and his baptism took place on August 18th, 1731 in Aalten.1  Jan's father was Roelof Prins and his mother was Stijne Beekink.  His paternal grandparents were Henricus Prins and Geesken Beechink; his maternal grandparents were Alof Beekink and Wilmken.  He was an only child.
