Barbara was born on January 28th, 1851 in Amersfoort.1  Barbara's father was Johannes Nicolaas van der H(e)ijden and her mother was Barbara Veenendaal.  Her maternal grandparents were Hermanus Veenendaal and Antonia Lambrechts/Lambregs/Lambregt. She had a sister named Rosaline.  She was the younger of the two children.
