Thomas was born on October 13th, 1689 in Kingston, Ulster, New York and his baptism took place on October 13th, 1689 in Old Dutch Church, Kingston, Ulster, New York. Thomas' father was Capt. Matthys Matthyssen (Van Keuren) and his mother was Tjatje Charity Claessen DeWitt.  His paternal grandparents were Matthij Jansen Van Keulen/VanKeuren and Margriet Hendrickse; his maternal grandparents were Tjerck Claesen DeWitt and Barbara Andriessen (++).  He had nine brothers and three sisters, named Matthys, Tjerck, Thomas, Klaes, Nicholas, Hasael, Cornellis, Benjamin, Gerardus, Sara, Lea and Barbara.  He was the nineth oldest of the thirteen children.  He died in Ulster, New York.
