John Fraunceis Griffith

St. Martin's church, Elworthy, Somerset

John was born on September 22nd, 1792.  John's father was John Griffith and his mother was Joanna-Phillippa Fraunceis.  His maternal grandparents were John Fraunceis - Created Gwyn of Forde Abbey 1780 and Jane Towill. He had three brothers and a sister, named Franceis, Thomas, Charles and Harriet.  He was the second oldest of the five children.  He died at the age of 59 on May 9th, 1852.

  On the death of his uncle John Fraunceis Gwyn Esq. in 1846 he inherited the Fraunceis ancient seat of Uplowman in Devonshire.

  Notes: John Fraunceis Griffith was ordained as deacon 15/06/1816 (residence Crowcombe), ordained as priest at Chapel in the Palace, Wells on 05/10/1865.
  On the death of his uncle Squire John FRAUNCEIS GWYN of Forde Abbey, John inherited the manor of Uplowman, Devonshire.
