Simon was born in 1709 in Little Yeldham, Essex, England and his baptism took place there on August 7th, 1709.  Simon's father was Mr Joseph Collar and his mother was Mrs Mary Fenner.  His paternal grandparents were Mr Simon Collar and Mrs Elizabeth NK. He had two brothers and five sisters, named Peter, John, Mary, Mary, Sarah, Elizabeth and Mary. He had five half-brothers and five half-sisters, named Joseph, Thomas, William, Joseph, Sarah, Sarah, Sarah, Elizabeth, Sarah and Hannah.
