Therese Philippe Beatrix was born on February 28th, 1811 in Retie.1   Therese Philippe Beatrix's father was Franciscus Sebastianus Gaethoffs and her mother was Bernardina Theresia Van Eeckhoven.  Her paternal grandparents were Antonius Carolus Gaethoffs and Maria Philippina Willick; her maternal grandparents were Franciscus Jacobus Van Eeckhoven and Theresia Bernardina Mutsaerts. She had three brothers and three sisters, and also a sibling of unknown gender, named Henricus Philippus, Johannes Leonardus, Guillaume Jozef, Jeanne Caroline, Therese Bernardine, Caroline Josephine Françoise and SN.  She was the second youngest of the eight children.

‌Therese Philippe Beatrix and Théodore were married in a civil ceremony on April 18th, 1846 in Brussel.2   They had three sons named Léopold Philippe Richard, Alphonse Corneille and Emile Adrien.
