Robert was born in February 1865.  Robert's father was Thomas Kain and his mother was Rachael Odgers.  His paternal grandparents were Carleton Kane and Ann Jane Odgers; his maternal grandfather is Roger Odgers. He had six brothers and a sister, named Thomas, John, Worsey, Carlton, Rachel, George and Annie.
