Dorothy's father is Thomas Allen and her mother was Phoebe Walsleben.  Her maternal grandparents were Johann Heinrich Emelius Walsleben and Faby Green. She had three brothers and three sisters, named Thomas Henry (Harry), Geoffrey, Stanley, Greta, Maud and Freda.  She died in Reefton.
