Nancy was born in 1856 in Porthleven.  Nancy's father is Richard Eddy and her mother is Mary Ann Pascoe.  Her paternal grandparents are William Eddy and Elizabeth Polmeer; her maternal grandfather is Peter Pascoe and her maternal grandmother was Ann Kitchen. She has three brothers and a sister, named George, Charles, Richard and Elizabeth.  She is the third oldest of the five children.
