William was born on August 5th, 1103 in Winchester.  William's father was Henry_I Beauclerc and his mother was Matilda (Edith) of_Scotland.  His paternal grandparents were William_I the_Conqueror and Matilda of_Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm_III Canmore and St_Margaret.  He was the oldest of five children.  He had two brothers and two sisters, named Robert of_Gloucester, Richard, Matilda and Sybil.  He died at the age of 17 on November 25th, 1120.
