Richard's father was Henry_I Beauclerc and his mother was Matilda (Edith) of_Scotland.  His paternal grandparents were William_I the_Conqueror and Matilda of_Flanders; his maternal grandparents were Malcolm_III Canmore and St_Margaret.  He was the youngest of five children.  He had two brothers and two sisters, named William, Robert of_Gloucester, Matilda and Sybil.  He died in 1120.
