James_III was born in 1451 in Stirling,Scotland.  James_III's father was James_II and his mother was Marie of_Gueldres.  His paternal grandparents were James_I and Joan Beaufort; his maternal grandfather was Arnold.  He was the oldest of four children.  He had two brothers and a sister, named Alexander, John and Mary.  He died at the age of 37 in 1488.
