James_II was born in 1430 in Edinburgh,Scotland.  James_II's father was James_I and his mother was Joan Beaufort.  His paternal grandparents were Robert_III and Annabella; his maternal grandparents were John Beaufort and Margaret Holland.  He had three half-brothers named John, James and Andrew.  He died at the age of 30 in 1460 in Roxburgh Castle,Scotland.
