Anna was born in 1843.  Anna's father was Charles of_Hesse and her mother was Elizabeth of_Prussia.  Her paternal grandparents were Louis_II of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and Wilhelmina of_Baden; her maternal grandfather was William of_Prussia.  She was the third of four children.  She had three brothers named Louis_IV of_Hesse, Henry and William.  She died at the age of 22 in 1865.
