Charles of_Hesse was born in 1809.  Charles of_Hesse's father was Louis_II of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and his mother was Wilhelmina of_Baden.  His paternal grandparents were Louis_I of_Hesse-Darmst. and Louise of_Hesse-Darmst..  He was the second of four children.  He had two brothers and a sister, named Louis_III of_Hesse, Alexander of_Hesse and_the_Rhine and Marie of_Hesse- Darmstadt.  He died at the age of 68 in 1877.
