John was born in 1908. John's father was William Francis W Gibson and his mother was Ellen O'Keeffe.  His paternal grandparents were Thomas Gibson and Mary Elizabeth Woolcock. He had a brother and a sister, named Will and Vera.  He was the youngest of the three children.
