Christopher was born in March 1955.  Christopher's father was Peter Sydney Ernest Lawford and his mother was Patricia Kennedy.  His maternal grandparents were Joseph P. Kennedy and Rose Elizabeth Fitzgerald.  He has three sisters named Sydney, Victoria and Robin.  He is the oldest of the four children.

Christopher and Jeannie were married on November 17th, 1984 in Bequia, West Indies.  They were divorced in 2000.  They have two sons and a daughter, named David, Matthew and Savannah.
