John was born on November 24th, 1724 in Bruton, Somerset.  John's father was Thomas White and his mother was Mary Hilborn.  His paternal grandfather is John White.  He had two brothers and six sisters, named Thomas, Samuel, Ann, Rebecca, Elizabeth, Mary, Mary and Ann.
