Henry Harkness was born on February 4th, 1913 in Seaton, Cumberland.  Henry Harkness' father is William Ritchie and his mother is Jane Harkness.  He had four brothers and four sisters, named Walter, John, Andrew Harkness, Lindow, Florence, Isabella, Rachel and Jane.  He is the sixth oldest of the nine children.
