Richard was born about 1867 in London.  Richard's father was Robert Groves and his mother is Eliza Bennett.  His maternal grandparents were John Bennett and Ann.  He has two brothers and a sister, named Robert, William and Mary.  He is the youngest of the four children.  He has a half-sister named Sarah A.
