Frances Eleanor was born in March 1881 in Great Waltham, Essex. Frances Eleanor's father is William Dannatt and her mother is Alice Simons. Her maternal grandparents were Richard Simons and Sophia Barnard. She has six brothers and four sisters, named Robert William, Arthur Richard, William Edward, Percy Hugh, Geoffrey, Bernard, Ethel Mary, Alice May, Edith Hope and Dorothy Alice. She is the sixth oldest of the eleven children.
