Catherine, known as Katie, was born on August 11th, 1919 in Wayne County, IL.  Katie's father was Frank Acel Beardin and her mother was Mary Alice Williamson (Beardin). She had four brothers and three sisters, named Robert, Al, John, Winnie, Fern, Bernice and Jeanie.  She is the fourth oldest of the eight children.
