Mary's father was Thomas Heaton and her mother was Mary Senior. Her paternal grandparents were John Heaton and Grace Pilkington. She had three brothers and a sister, named John Senior, Walter, Robert and Bertha. She was the third oldest of the five children. She died at 11 months old on February 15th, 1908 in Preston, Lancashire, England.¹
