Amanda was born in 1831.  Amanda's father was Abraham J Dancy and her mother was Lucinda Wingler.  Her paternal grandparents were John Dancy and Ann Morgan; her maternal grandparents were Leonard Wingler and Jyre Dancy. She had five brothers and a sister, named John, Jesse, Wilson, Abraham, Joe and Lucinda.  She was the oldest of the seven children.
