Markus was born on February 19th, 1826 in Smilde, The Netherlands.¹

  Taken from a document from Rijksarchief in de Provincie Drente, No 356 dated 9 November 1953, it states that his mother was Zwaantje Willems Eefting and that the father's name was Harm Alberts Wever. Signature and father's name on the birth certificate was Harm Alberts Weevers. (This could be a spelling mistake and should read Wever).

Markus' father was Harm ALBERTS and his mother was Zwaantien (Zwaantje) WILLEMS EEFTING. His paternal grandparents were Albert Jans Willems ALBERTS and Jantien BOLLINK; his maternal grandparents were Willem JANS and Marchien WILLEMS. He had three brothers and two sisters, named Albert, Willem, Jan, Jantje and Grietje. He was the third oldest of the six children. He died in an accident or as a result of an injury, Drowning?, at the age of 69 on September 5th, 1895 in Norg, The Netherlands.²
