Johann Peter was born on August 15th, 1804 in Birkenfeld. Johann Peter's father was Johann Peter Lauff and his mother was Maria Elisabetha Cheis (verh. Krempel). His paternal grandparents were Johann Conrad Lauff and Maria Margaretha Born. He had four brothers and a sister, named Karl, Friedrich, David, Jimmy? and Charlotte. He was the second oldest of the six children. He died at the age of 67 on March 17th, 1872 in Birkenfeld.-
