I am not totally sure if this Nicholas is a son to Edward. I do not know where i got the info stating he was. suspect the info came from A. Furgus, but i did not record it. The fact is tho that he did also come from Kennytown area along with Thomas Balfe, who married Sally Kenny.
My records from Andree Balfe Fergus shows Nicholas dying 4-23-1885 and being 93 years old. This would make his father only 12 , according to her notes. Perhaps the fathers year isn't correct.
I also got from the Rideau Recorder on the date 4 April, 1889, , it showed a N. Balf, that died in Winnipeg, age 80. I think this is not the right person though.
Lived in Kitley Ontario on the 1848 census, with aledged brothers, Thomas and John

See notes on Mary Balfe (b. abt 1836). There was a Nick. Balf as sponsor. He
may be this Nick Balf.
See notes on his brother John Balfe (b. about 1806) re their emigration to
Canada in 1847. On the same entry (MS4974) it lists Nicholas Balfe, of
Hillbrooke Townland and Carnew Parish, and his Catherine his wife, and their
children, John 7, Edward 5, Pat 3, Mary 3 mths, and Jane 14. It states also that
Nicholas, "Holds a cabin and kitchen garden from Mr. Shannon a tenant of Mrs.
Symes. Balf got allowance when put off Kilcaven, holdings to a large
amount." There is also a note, "....Mary Dillon, a relative 18 was evicted with
them. Her passage to be paid by her father William."
1851 Census (Film C-11733, Part 1, Page 5/9 line 35) lists Nicholas Balfe,
Labourer, born in Ireland, R.Catholic, age 56, Widowed, living on Michael
Shank's farm in Kitley Twp, Leeds Cty (Ontario) with his son Patrick. The
Shanks farm is on Concession III, Lot 11/12 - 300 Acres/140 under cultivation.

1861 census lists Nicholas Balf, living in Montague Twp., Lanark Cty Con 4,
Lot 27.
1871 census lists Nicholas Bawlf, age 70, born Ireland, Farmer, RC, Illiterate,
living with his wife Catherine Bawlf and family in Montague Twp Lanark Cty.

lists Nicholas Balf, Farmer, married (to Catherine Balf), age 68, Irish, born
Ireland, Catholic, living with his wife and family in Montague Twp., Lanark
Cty, Ontario.
The Manitoba Gov't Death register lists Nichola Bawlf died March 21/89 at 80
yrs, he was Catholic, born Wicklow Ireland, physician was Dr Patterson,
registered July 4/89, Winnipeg. He died while visiting in Winnipeg.
