Maria was born in May 1696.  Maria's father was Franciscus Exton and her mother was Ann.  Her paternal grandparents were Thome Exton and Jana. She had a brother and three sisters, named Thomas, Ann, Elizabetha and Jana.  She was the second oldest of the five children.
