Ann was born in 1779 and her baptism took place on September 4th, 1779 in St James Church, Taunton, Somerset, UK. Ann's father was Thomas Hill and her mother was Mary Thomas.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Hill and Hannah Goldsworthy. She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, James, Henry, Jonathan, Ruth, Mary and Leah.  She was the fourth youngest of the eight children.
