Donald was born in 1833.  Donald's father is George Manson and his mother is Frances Williamson.  His paternal grandparents are Alexander Manson and Margaret Swanson.  He has two brothers and three sisters, named John, William, Margaret, Elizabeth and Janet.  He is the fifth oldest of the six children.
