Marjory was born in 1889.  Marjory's father was Thomas Mowat and her mother was Elizabeth Bruce.  Her paternal grandparents were Thomas Mowat and Janet Donaldson.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Thomas, Robert, William, John, Jessie, Elizabeth and Jane.  She was the seventh oldest of the eight children.
