Flora was born in 1873.  Flora's father was Malcolm MacDonald and her mother was Margaret McKinnon.  Her paternal grandparents were Archibald MacDonald and Flora Kennedy; her maternal grandparents were Hugh McKinnon and Margaret MacColl.  She had four brothers and three sisters, named Archibald, Hugh, Malcolm, Allan, Maggie, Flora and Maryann.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She had a half-sister named Betsy.  She died at the age of 9 in 1882.
