Mátyás' father was Busai Mátyás and his mother was Makó Borbála. His paternal grandparents were Busai Mihály and Dobó Katalin; his maternal grandparents were Makó András and Bertóthy Judit. He had two brothers and nine sisters, named István, István, Anna, Borbála, Zsuzsanna, Zsuzsanna, Erzsébet, Klára, Klára, Katalin and Rozália. He was the oldest of the twelve children.
