Eli was born on February 19th, 1842 in Tennessee.  Eli's father was Eli Rentfrow, Sr. and his mother was Eliza Ann --- (Rentfrow). He had a brother named Daniel.  He was the older of the two children.  He died at the age of 84 on August 27th, 1926 in Effingham County, Illinois.  He was buried at the Rentfro Cemetery.
