Gerrit Bartszn was born in 1680 and his baptism took place on March 28th, 1680 in Westbroek.1 2  Gerrit Bartszn's father was Bart Gerritszn van Zypveld and his mother was Cuijntje Adriaensdr van Schay.  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Aartszn van Zypveld and Merrichien Bartsdr N.N.; his maternal grandparents were Adriaan Walingszn van Schay and Neeltje Claesdr N.N.. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Jacob Bartszn, Arie Bartszn, Gerrit Bartszn, Niesje Bartsdr, Neeltje Bartsdr and Marrigje Bartsdr.  He was the fifth oldest of the seven children.  He died before February 1st, 1685.1
