Jan Otte was born on September 28th, 1797 in Gameren and his baptism took place there on October 15th, 1797.1  Jan Otte's father was Otto Arienszn van de Werken and his mother was Pieternella van de Laar.  His paternal grandparents were Arien Otto van de Werken and Jantje van Ravenswaaij; his maternal grandparents were Dirk van de Laar and Johanna Verweij. He had a brother and a sister, named Arien and Johanna.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had a half-brother and a half-sister, named Arien and Jenneke Peterke.  He died at the age of 64 on June 29th, 1862 in Gameren.1
