Nanning was born on September 16th, 1792 in Almkerk and his baptism took place there on September 23rd, 1792.1 2  Nanning's father was Antonie van Vark and his mother was Ida Vissers.  His paternal grandparents were Nanning Anthoniszn van Vark and Steijntje Woutersdr Dijck; his maternal grandparents were Gerrit Jan Jacobszn Visser and Cornelia Aartsdr Ottervanger. He had a half-brother and three half-sisters, named Jan, Stijntje, Ariaantje and Ariaantje.  He died at the age of 68 on March 9th, 1861 in Almkerk en Uitwijk.1
