Jan was born in August 1746 in Amsterdam and his baptism took place on August 26th, 1746 in Amsterdam (Westerkerk) conducted by Reverend Pieter Elzevier.1   His godfather was Pieter Lammertzen and his godmother was Jannetje Hendericksdr. Jan's father was Gerrit Parmentier and his mother was Aaltje Pietersdr Wegge.  His paternal grandparents were Joost Parmentier and Elizabeth Jansdr N.N.; his maternal grandfather was Pieter Lambertszn Wegge and his maternal grandmother is <Unknown>. He had four brothers and five sisters, named Pieter, Joost, Joseph, Jan, Alida, Catharina, Henrica Gerritsdr, Elsje and Dirkje.  He was the nineth oldest of the ten children.  He died before 1749 in Amsterdam.2
