Jan Gerritszn was born in 1665 and his baptism took place on June 26th, 1665 in Vreeswijk.1 2  Jan Gerritszn's father was Gijsbert Janszn Otterspoor and his mother was Marijckje Pauwels.  His paternal grandfather was Jan Jacobszn Otterspoor and his paternal grandmother is Joosjen Gijsbertsdr N.N.. He had four brothers and a sister, named Paulus, Jacob Gijsbertszn, Claes, Cornelis Gijsbertszn and Josina Gijsbertsdr. He had a half-brother and two half-sisters, named Paulus, Adriana and Neeltje.  He died at the age of 27 on November 14th, 1692 in Amsterdam.2
