Arij was born in 1755 in Almkerk and his baptism took place there on March 28th, 1755.1   His godmother was Grietje Noteboom. Arij's father was Arien Gerritszn Noteboom and his mother was Johanna Corstiaansdr Faas.  His paternal grandparents were Gerrit Ariens Noteboom and Wouterke Gielen Sagt. He had a brother and five sisters, named Christiaan, Theuntje, Lijsbet, Bastiaantje, Wouterke and Johanna.  He was the fourth oldest of the seven children. He had four half-brothers named Gerrid, Jan, Jacob and Wouter.  He died at the age of 77 on July 11th, 1832 in Pijnacker.2
