Cornelis was born in 1672 in Dussen and his baptism took place there on August 14th, 1672 conducted by Reverend Theodori van der Haegen.1   His godmother was Adriana van Brandtwijck. Cornelis' father was Philips Janszn Nederveen and his mother was Aerjaentje Claesdr van der Eijck.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Philipszn Nederveen and Grietje Cornelisdr N.N.. He had two brothers named Claes and Philips.  He was the second oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thonij, Cornelis and Grietien.
