Claes was born in 1668 in Dussen and his baptism took place there on December 26th, 1668 conducted by Reverend Theodori van der Haegen.1   His godmother was Judick Claesdr Ven der Eijck. Claes' father was Philips Janszn Nederveen and his mother was Aerjaentje Claesdr van der Eijck.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Philipszn Nederveen and Grietje Cornelisdr N.N.. He had two brothers named Cornelis and Philips.  He was the oldest of the three children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Thonij, Cornelis and Grietien.
