Cornelius was born in 1706 in Genderen and his baptism took place there on October 3rd, 1706.1  Cornelius' father was Peter Corneliszn van der Mooren and his mother was Neeltje Cornelisdr van Loenen.  His paternal grandparents were Cornelis Hendrikzn van der Mooren and Marike Peeters van der Coets; his maternal grandfather was Cornillis Janszn van Loenen and his maternal grandmother is Eeltien Bastiaanse van Gent. He had three brothers and six sisters, named Cornelis Peterszn, Matthijs Peterszn, Hendrik, Dirsken, Cornelia, Geertruij, Geertruij, Marie and Eeltie.  He was the fifth oldest of the ten children.
