Maritgen was born in March 1617 in Vrijenban (Delft) and her baptism took place on March 26th, 1617 in Nootdorp.1   Her godfather was/is Joost Dirckszn and her godmother was/is Krijntgen Martensdr; Aeffge Joosendr. Maritgen's father was Willem Joostzn van der Meer and her mother is Annetje Maertensdr N.N..  Her paternal grandparents were Joost Corneliszn van der Meer and Jacomijntge N.N.; her maternal grandfather is Maerten Huyenszn N.N. and her maternal grandmother was N.N. N.N.. She had four brothers and four sisters, named Joost Willemszn, Marten, Maarten Willemszn, Pieter, Maritgen, Ewoutghen, Aefgen and Aeltgen.  She is the youngest of the nine children.
