Jozijna was born on September 20th, 1848 in 's Gravenmoer.1  Jozijna's father was Machiel Johannes van der Mast and her mother was Jacoba van Genderen.  Her paternal grandparents were Johannes van der Mast and Geertrui Blok; her maternal grandparents are Christiaan van Genderen and Johanna Heijblom. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Christiaan, Johannes, Geertrui, Johanna, Antonia, Antonetta and Adriana.  She was the fourth oldest of the eight children.  She died after 1901.2
