Geertrui was born on February 27th, 1841 in 's Gravenmoer.1  Geertrui's father was Machiel Johannes van der Mast and her mother was Jacoba van Genderen.  Her paternal grandparents were Johannes van der Mast and Geertrui Blok; her maternal grandparents are Christiaan van Genderen and Johanna Heijblom. She had two brothers and five sisters, named Christiaan, Johannes, Johanna, Jozijna, Antonia, Antonetta and Adriana.  She was the oldest of the eight children.  She died at the age of 88 on March 27th, 1929 in Sprang-Capelle.2
