Aert was born about 1412 in Veen.1  Aert's father was Willem Arentszn Kievits van Veen and his mother was Elsa van Horne.  His paternal grandparents were Aert Aert Kievits van Doveren and N.N. N.N.. He had two brothers named Aert Willem Aertszn and Jan.  He was the second oldest of the three children.  He died about 1455.  He was buried in 's Hertogenbosch (St Jan).1 1
