Cornelis was born in 1676 in Capelle (Noord Brabant) and his baptism took place there on April 19th, 1676.1   His godmother was Geertruyt Jansdr Hovenaer. Cornelis' father was Ariaen Janszn Hovenaer and his mother was Marie Cornelisdr Vos.  His paternal grandparents were Jan Govertszn Hovenaers and Maijken Jansdr. He had a brother named Jan.  He was the older of the two children. He had two half-brothers and a half-sister, named Teunis Ariaen, Teunis and Mayken Adriaensdr.
