Francus was born about 1748 in Herpt.1  Francus' father was Peter van Gammeren and his mother was Aartje van Leeuwen.  His paternal grandparents were Antonij van Gammeren and Francijna Pietersdr van Dijck; his maternal grandparents were Gerrith van Leeuwen and Maria Martensz Vermaas. He had three brothers and three sisters, named Franciscus, Anthonij, Gerrit, Maria, Maria and Geertruij.  He was the oldest of the seven children.  He died on July 30th, 1818 in 's Hertogenbosch.2
